Tin Roof

My friends here tease me because I'm always sure to let them know everything is better in Utah. The grass is soft. The streams are clear. The air is dry. The burgers are better. You get my point. There is one little spot here in Texas that Utah doesn't have any place to compare it to. It's the best! It's a little BBQ joint close to my home that I just love! Tin Roof BBQ. The food is yum and the atmosphere is amazing! Picture in your mind what a bbq place in Texas would be like and that's exactly what it is.It's half indoor and half out and literally has a tin roof.

It has a big firepit to keep you warm on the cooler nights.
Live music on weekends.
Funny little signs with funny little sayings are everywhere.
They have several restaurant cats that hang out there and nobody minds.
They have a snowcone and/or a cotton candy machine on the weekends.
An outdoor yard and playground for the kids to play.

The outdoor lighting consists of Christmas lights.
There's a little dance floor that usually has little kids shakin' it to the live music.
Super friendly staff!
In the land of pink drinks (Fanta and Big Red (or something like that)) and Dr. Pepper, they actually have Cherry Coke!
This is exactly the type of place you would see in a movie like Hope Floats.
Oh, and did I mention how yum the food is?

The Cat's Out of the Bag

Well, I think most people know that Aaron was offered a job in our most favorite state! Preparations are under way to return our little family to Utah. It's a little surreal, kind of like moving here was but our family is very happy. There will be some tears shed because once again, we will be saying goodbye to people that we love. Who knew in such a short time we would develop such amazing friends?! They've substituted as our family when our family couldn't be here and we truly, truly love them all and will miss them incredibly.

Believe it or not, Texas has grown on me. Besides the friends that we've made, there are things that I'll miss. The turtles - oh how we love those little guys! The trees although the mountains will make up for them! Quick trips to Galveston to play in the ocean or look for hermit crabs. Our neighborhood swimming pool. Blue Bell ice cream. Parker and Anna's school. Halloween in such a fun neighborhood. Weekend trips to San Antonio. Texas bbq - YUM! Spring in February. Pool volleyball with our friends. Kemah Boardwalk. I'm so happy our family was able to do such fun things in the time that we've been here. We've definately created memories that will last a lifetime!

But still, there's no place like home!

The Little Neglected Blog

That's what I should name my blog but I'm not the only one (hint hint)!

Here's a rundown...

Park's birthday - we went to dinner then had an impromptu birthday party with all the kids from our little street. What a great bunch!

Park's very first ever Pinewood Derby - he did great by the way!

Bridgefest - a fun little run our kids did. Park ran a mile and Anna ran a half. This is right in line with our family's 2010 goal of being just a bit more healthy.

Valentine's Day - it was great! And ANOTHER lost tooth!

We hope everyone is doing well!! I've updated mine, now how about updating YOURS!! =]

Happy Birthday Parker!

What a difference you've made in my life!
What a difference you've made in my life!
You're my sunshine day and night!
What a difference you've made in my life!

I heard this song on the radio yesterday and couldn't help but think of the little man who changed my life so much for the better 8 years ago today!

Happy birthday Park! I love you more than you'll ever know!

How We Spent Our Christmas Vacation

We went to the movies with friends...
We spent Christmas Eve playing games and eating the greatest chicken enchiladas ever with these great people... We did lots of unwrapping...We had our friends the Smith's over on Christmas...We spent loads of time playing games...

Then Kristi, Eric and Tyler came to visit and we went to some of our favorite places like T-Bone Tom's (as seen on Diner's, Drive-In's and Dive's)...

And Kemah Boardwalk... On New Year's Eve we fondid it! (it's just SO much fun to say!)...

And watched movies...

And lit fireworks...

On New Year's Day we went to the Johnson Space Center and learned all about NASA...

That's Saturn V behind us - it's a REALLY big rocket!

In our down time we spent alot of time playing Super Mario Bros. So much fun!...

Our first Christmas away and of course we absolutely missed our family and friends at home but we still had a great time. How can you not? It's Christmas! We hope y'all (go ahead with the jokes - it's just easier!) had a wonderful Christmas too and we wish and hope and pray for the very best for you this new year!
