The Quickest Summer Every

Howdy all.
Here we are about to start school. Yep. That's right. START school! But it's only July you say? Ya, I know. Year-round school. Ain't that just a kick in the pants. Or the head. All I know is I am NOT ready for summer to be over. The last six weeks have gone by so fast but it's because we've had SO much fun.
Four days after school was out we hopped a plane and left this continent for 9 beautiful wonderful sand and sun filled days in Hawaii. We stayed on the south shore of Kauai and wow oh wow was it amazing. The sights, the sounds, the smells - simply amazing. This little trip warrants it's whole very own post with pictures and stories but not today. Most of my pictures are on an iPad and I don't know how to get them off so we'll save it for another time.
One week after we got back we headed back out of town to go to Pineview for the 4th of July just as we always do. Tragedy struck as both of my mom's dog's were killed (those who know my mom know how horrible this is) but other than that it was a great trip. I had so much fun spending time with my family it really made me grateful that we are back in this great state and close to them.
Let see...we came back and someone (me) got the stomach flu that lasted way longer than it should have and there went another week.
Now here we are. School starts a week from tomorrow. There's still fun to be had, dangit! So we are going to squeeze everything we can into the next few days. I hope you all are filling your summer with fun and memories to last a lifetime! =]

Yay! A nice beautiful Spring day!

It was a good day to go to the zoo and see a sweet mom and her baby...And a cute giraffe...And a beautiful tiger...And since we were looking monkeys, we might as well act like them... And see how we compare...It was a pretty warm day so we needed something to cool us off...A rest in a giant egg sounded good too...
Here are the most wild animals I saw. I'm glad the zoo didn't try to keep them. ;)

Really?! Why?!

Ok, here I am about to whine. Feel free to close this thing down right now. I won't be offended.

My sweetest and most precious baby girl's little baby tooth had to make room for her great big grown up tooth that is well on it's way to forever change the way she looks.

Sigh.

Tear.

Don't get me wrong. There is nothing she could do to make herself any less beautiful but every major change (like a lost tooth) is a reminder that they're growing up. I can't slow it down. I can't stop it. I have to just stand by and wait for the day when I'm not the most important gal in their lives. I know that's super selfish but I love that they love me and they want to spend time with me and be near me. Really, if we are watching a movie and I'm on the couch, they are on the couch with me. If I'm on the floor, they are on the floor with me. If I'm on the couch and move to the floor or I'm on the floor and I move to the couch, they move with me and I love it.

It's hard to believe that the day will come when they'll want to hang out on weekends with their friends rather than me and Aaron, or that they'll have crushes or go on dates and to dances and it's hard to imagine that I'll let them. But I will because every mom does. Well, maybe not EVERY mom. You hear weird things in the news. They are experiences that are going to shape them and help them learn and grow and although it will break my heart, I'll let them because it's what's best for them.

Anyway, her little lost tooth is another reminder to cherish every moment, every hug, every kiss, every giggle, etc. They unfortunately won't last forever.

HaPpY BiRtHdAy!

My oh my how fast nine years have gone by and how blessed I am to have this cute face to look at and smooch every single day! I've always known he was special. When he was a tiny little baby in his tiny little carrier seat we were at a restaurant and some old fella looked at him and told us that he was destined for greatness. Even as a little baby complete strangers knew it. He's the sweetest boy I know and has a sense of humor just like his dad. He's smart and fun and has more compassion than anyone I know. He cares about everyone and hasn't outgrown snuggling which I'm super grateful for! I keep telling him that day is going to come when he's not going to want to curl up next to his mom to watch a movie or get some good snuggle time in before bed and he can't imagine and frankly, neither can I.

Blessed indeed.

HaPpY NeW YeAr!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and spent lots of time with your nearest and dearest. We sure did. We fell right into old traditions that we missed out on last year and maybe even created some new ones. Who knows? We had friends from Texas come visit us and we spent a lot of time showing them how great Utah is and why they and the rest of our Texas peeps should move here! Aaron's sister and her two kids came for a little visit which was also fun. There was a whole lot of game playing going on...Apples to Apples, Speed, Snorta, Uno Attack and a whole lot of laughs. I love Christmas. I am usually pretty quick to take down our Christmas decorations but this year I wanted it to linger a little longer.

It seems like the last few years I finished the year not celebrating the New Year but celebrating that the crappy old year was over. I was actually sad to see 2010 come to an end.

So, here we are. 2011. Is this how you thought it would be? I remember in elementary school I had to write a paper about what I thought the year 2000 would be like. I think I also had to make a time capsule which I buried in my backyard so that will be a fun find for someone someday! Anyway, I pictured life in the year 2000 very similar to the Jetson's. I thought we would all be driving hover crafts and have robot maids. I thought that for sure by now they would invent smell-o-vision and perhaps even TV's would become vending machines. If you saw a commercial for I don't know, let's say a sweet and bubbly delicous vanilla coke you could buy it right from the TV and out it would come. Ok, ok, I was in elementary school but you have to admit that would be awesome!

There are some inventions that I am so super duper happy they exist like smart phones and iPods and there are inventions that I'm surprised (and frankly a little disappointed)that they haven't been able to make like efficient cars that don't pollute (electric cars hardly count since most people don't drive them)or cake that you can eat that makes you thin and healthy. Keep trying for those all you scientists out there! Also, if you could get on the maid robot thing I would be really grateful.

Well, ok. That's enough rambling for now. You see, I went to the gym three days ago and did a weight lifting class and even still can hardly move so what else is there to do but type nonsense on a blog that I'm pretty sure no one reads! Anyway, Happy New Year! =]
